September 10, 1962 – February 20, 2024

Pamela Ann Hoekstra, age 61, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The family hosted a Celebration of Pamela’s Life at The Social, 301 S. Thompson Ave., Sioux Falls, S.D., on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. 

Pamela Horacek was born on September 10, 1962 in Yankton, South Dakota to Benedict and Rosine (Walz) Horacek. She was raised in Yankton before moving to Harrisburg, SD in 1978. Pam graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1981. On June 1, 1985 she married Kevin Hoekstra in Sioux Falls, SD. 

Pam worked at Central Plains Clinic for 13 years.  Later, she joined Sonifi (LodgeNet) and spent 23 years with the company, where she worked until her retirement due to ALS. 

Pam made many connections and had numerous friends throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Wyatt and Averie. She loved family trips, playing cards and other games, crafting and crocheting. Pam will be dearly missed by all who knew her. 

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Dustin Hoekstra and his wife, Rebecca of Sioux Falls,  and Lindsey Vargason and her husband, Benton of Alton, Iowa; brothers, Darrell (Val) Horacek of Hartford, S.D., and Jeff (Charice) Horacek of Sioux Falls; sisters, Deb (Ron) Jacobsen of Sioux Falls, Cindy Ekeren of Sioux Falls, and Jenny (Dan) Johnson, of Sioux Falls; her in-laws, Cal and Pat Hoekstra; sister-in-law, Kendra (Larry) Schnabel; brother-in-law, Kyle (Lisa) Hoekstra, all of the Sioux Falls area; and many dear nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Pam was preceded in death by her husband, Kevin, her parents, Benedict and Rosine Horacek, and sister, Roxanne.
