First grade news

Miss Sonnek and her high school art class students teamed up with the first graders.

To begin the fun project, the first graders drew unique, friendly monsters.  Then, the high school art students created 3D versions of the monster drawings. The end products were great!  To add to the project, the high school students created mini biographies of each monster, complete with a name, birth date, hobby, and home.  The first graders were thrilled to “meet” the monsters they had drawn.

Second grade news

Second graders have been busy, busy, busy!  We are learning to regroup with double digits when we add and subtract.  At first we thought it was going to be really hard, but now we think it’s easy!  Our teachers said we do a great job using our math brains.  We have been doing lots of reading-both fiction and non-fiction. We really enjoyed reading different versions of fairy tales.  Some of them were very funny! Some days we have crazy schedules with snow days, or late days, but we don’t mind the snow. In fact, our favorite thing is the HUGE snow hill we have on our playground now!

The students are enjoying the abundance of snow on the playground this winter.
