This week from Kingdom Kids Preschool (3’s and 4’s)

Kingdom Kids news

We have had a great start to our school year at Kingdom Kids!  It’s hard to believe we are two months into the year!  We spent the month of September learning the rules and routines of the classroom, as well as getting to know our classmates.  We also spent some time learning about apples and doing some fun projects like apple stamping.  Now that it is October, we have transitioned to signs of fall and pumpkins.  We read a book that showed us how we are like pumpkins. We dug out the slimy insides of the pumpkin which we learned is called pulp (which many of us did not enjoy!). This reminded us of our yucky sins in our hearts that God takes away. Next, we carved out eyes, a nose, and a mouth and put a light inside. Then came the exciting part of going in a dark room and seeing our pumpkin light up! And just like our pumpkin, when we have the light of Jesus in us, we can shine for him!

We have been working hard on recognizing our name and knowing what letter it starts with.  Along with that, we have been practicing our colors and starting to learn about numbers and the alphabet. Perhaps our favorite part of the day is when our learning requires us to get messy.  That may include practicing our fine motor skills in shaving cream, finger painting, or digging out the insides of a pumpkin.  What makes learning so much fun at this age level is all the hands-on exploring that takes place.  We are always so excited to learn new things!

We have also been busy exploring God’s Word.  We learned about the days of creation and how powerful God is that he could speak everything into being.  After learning how everything God created was very good, we moved on to Adam and Eve’s disobedience. This sad story reminded us of our need for a Savior. Our latest Bible story was Noah and the flood, which is a favorite! Through each of these stories, we are reminded how powerful God is, how much he loves us, and that he keeps his promises!  What a blessing that is!
