Soccer Team Has Several Returning Members

By Skip Hunter –

Last Monday the Southwest Minnesota Christian soccer team took the pitch (aka field) to begin preparations for the 2022 season. While the grass on the pitch lacked enthusiasm, the players did not. Twenty-five boys from grades 9-12 answered the call to action. Coach Brian Busker will have plenty to choose from as he looks to replace last year’s graduating seniors. As a side note, there are 16 boys in grades 7 and 8 who will be playing on the JV team as well as those upperclassmen who are assigned to the JV squad as the year begins.

Returning seniors are Caleb Raak, Jacob Uilk, Skyler Feikema, and Jarrett Kuipers. New to the squad this year is Luis Rodriguez.

Kuipers will hold down the goalie position that he gained last year. Feikema will be another in a long line of stalwart defenders. Uilk and Raak will look to play in the midfield with a foray either to the front line or the back line on occasion. Rodriquiz has good speed and hopes to be one of those seniors who has a successful 1-year career as an Eagle.
