Another Dutch In The Books

The 72nd annual Dutch Festival was well attended by folks from far and near. Many people came back to their roots to visit family and celebrate the Dutch. There were many familiar faces on the parade route, but many visitors that were also here for the first time. The weather was all over the place – with humidity on Thursday, heat on Friday, and more humidity – although thankfully less heat – on Saturday. Saturday afternoon brought light rain showers that delayed the evening events. But the skies cleared and cooler weather was ushered in.

The winner of the float competition for Friday night’s parade was Batmobile Heroes featuring Batman, his sidekick Robin, and villains: the Joker and the Penguin. Their specialty was spraying the crowd with water!

Second place went to the Masselink family’s hero, The Edgerton Dutch Man. This group was saving money and pinching pennies.

Third place went to Hulstein Excavating, Inc. This group showed that “Some heroes wear workboots.”

One of the highlights of the weekend was the ATV Big Air show. People had gotten a taste for what that group had to offer with the BMX bike show last year. This year’s event included ATVs and dirtbikes and a lot of “big air” tricks.

Results from several competitions that took place are inside the pages of this week’s Edgerton Enterprise as well as photos from throughout the weekend.
