EPS Board Approves New Hires

The monthly Edgerton Public Board Meeting was held on June 21. There were only four board members in attendance:. Brandon Gunnink, Loren Gunnink, Lon Anker, and Gene Westenberg. They voted to approve Nichole Gunnink as a new paraprofessional. They also hired Shawn Ranek, who has been teaching 3rd grade, as the new middle school language arts teacher.

Th board also approved thee 2023 budget. The budget is based on an estimated enrollment of 395 students. The non-certified staff pay changes were presented to the board members and approved as well.

The state of Minnesota requires that all public school staff members be informed of the Front-Line worker pay that is available to them. The administration sent this out to the staff members via email and text including information on the site to apply for these funds.

On April 29, Governor Tim Walz signed into a law a Front Line Worker Payment. Frontline worker pay is available to those who work in some public sector jobs including healthcare, long term care, schools,  as well as education. There are income eligibility guidelines and information available on the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry website. The deadline for application is July 22.
