Track Has Great Sub-Section Meet

Boys champs; girls runner-up; Schaap breaks two meet records

On Thursday, May 26, the Southwest Christian / Edgerton track team took part in the Minnesota 3A Southwest Sub-Section Meet.  The meet was hosted by Luverne.  It was a near perfect conditions for track and field with very comfortable temperatures and just a light breeze. Eight teams participated in the sub-section meet: Adrian / Ellsworth, Hills-Beaver Creek, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, Luverne, Murray County Central, Pipestone Area, Russell – Tyler – Ruthton and Southwest Christian / Edgerton.

The girls’ team competition was won by the Luverne Cardinals as they gathered up 210.5 points. The SWC / E team had a great outing as they tallied 125.5 points and captured the runner-up spot. Pipestone was third with 92 while MCC (78) and HBC (64.5) went fourth and fifth.  The Eagle squad had a fantastic meet as they won the boys’ team standings with 148.5 points.  It was a very tight battle as they just edged out Luverne who captured the runner-up position with (144.5). Pipestone (110) took third, HBC (73) fourth and TMB (71) fifth.  The team win was the 10th of the season.  They have backed that up with three runner up finishes and one third place finish.  The girls had seven team wins and four runner up finishes (all four to Luverne).
