Hadler to retire after 39 years of teaching

Brenda Hadler will retire from Edgerton Public School at the close of this school year. Brenda is a third generation teacher – her grandfather was a teacher. Her Dad, Hugo Goehle, taught and coached at Hills Beaver Creek for over 40 years. Her brother and sister are also teachers, and now two of her three children are teachers!
“Teaching is in my blood,” she said. Brenda grew up in Hills and attended school there. She went on to Southwest State University in Marshall where she intended to study to enter a career in the medical field. She had always enjoyed teaching – Bible School, Sunday School – but one of her teachers had talked her out of going into education, in part because that teacher didn’t think the pay was enough.
But after a few months of classes, she realized that she was not thrilled with her choices. She talked to her Dad and he encouraged her to look follow her heart and go into education. “I’m the richest man in town,” he said, meaning that working in education had blessed him in many wonderful relationships with students and their families.
After changing her major to elementary education, Brenda graduated and took a position at Edgerton Public School teaching second grade.
