CAROL SCHULZE

January 4, 1947– April 19, 2025

Carol Lee (Bolluyt) Schulze went home to be with our Lord unexpectedly on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 26, 2025, 3:00 p.m., at First Reformed Church,  Edgerton, with Pastor Mark Groen officiating. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton.

Pallbearers were Darin Stoecker, Kristofer Markl, Jamal Walhof, Tanner Schulze, Blake Young, Grant Kooiman, Fredy Levia, and Jimmy Nash. Honorary pallbearers were Doug Schulze, Alex Jorgensen, Nick Dykstra, and Quindarion Livingston.

Carol was born on January 4, 1947, in Pipestone County Hospital to Allen and Bertha (Buys) Bolluyt. During her youth, she grew up on the farm west of Edgerton with her siblings Dell, Donna, and Connie. She attended Edgerton Public Schools and graduated in 1965.

Carol was united in marriage to Charles E. Walhof on June 30, 1965. From this union, they had 3 daughters – Lisa, Staci, and Jodi. The girls sang with their father and Carol made all of their dresses. They traveled throughout the midwest singing at different venues and churches.

On November 12, 1988, Carol was united in marriage to James P. Schulze at Edgerton First Reformed Church, and the family grew with the addition of Doug, Debb, and their families. Carol’s journey in faith began at Edgerton First Reformed Church as a baptized infant, a professing lifetime member where she served with several of her friends in the Priscilla Circle, making pigs-in-the-blanket, meals on wheels, and Bible study. Carol and Jim also served as Stephen’s Ministers within the community. Carol, who always wanted to become a professional hair stylist, would often volunteer at Edgebrook Rest Center to style hair for the residents.

Carol was employed at Edgerton Public Schools for 24 years, holding various positions, and retired as a special education secretary in 2013. Carol never knew a stranger and was the source of knowledge to many regarding the family heritage. Carol, along with her sister-in-law Mary and her daughter Staci, created a Buys Family Book several years ago. Carol was also a 37 year breast cancer survivor.

After retirement, Carol and Jim enjoyed visiting their children and grandchildren and attending sporting events and school programs of their great-grandchildren. Recently, they went on bus tours with Southwest Tour and Travel to the Ark in Kentucky, to Washington DC, and looked forward to many more excursions. They enjoyed several trips to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee, as well as the Schulze Family Ranch in Banning, Calif., to attend several weddings, graduations, birthdays, as well as vacations.

Carol cherished all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her only wish was for them to know the Lord so they could have eternal life with him. Jim and Carol started each day and ended each evening with daily devotions together. They had just finished nightly devotions when Carol suffered her medical emergency. She was a faithful servant of God and communicated that night that she was ready to be with the Lord.

Carol is lovingly remembered by her spouse, James Schulze, Edgerton; children, Doug Schulze (Lisa) – Banning, Calif., Debb Schulze – Gilbert, Ariz., Staci Williams (Jimmy Nash) – Church Hill, Tenn., Jodi Al-Daraji (Fredy Levia) – Fulda, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; siblings, Delwyn Bolluyt (Mary) – Edgerton, Donna Groen (Keith) – Washington, N.C., Connie Nelson (John) – Canistota, Minn.
