Sandbulte to leave Edgerton Food Center

Changes are coming at the Edgerton Food Center. Bill Sandbulte, who has been with the grocery store since 2003, has decided to pursue a different career.

He has been hired as the new head cook at Southwest Christian Elementary School. That work will begin in late August.

Bill had decided to take a step back at the grocery store earlier this year and went to part-time hours in February. “Working 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. was getting hard on my knees,” he said.

But when the position at the school was advertised, he decided that working 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the school where his grandchildren are students sounded like the right fit.

Over the last 20 years, Bill’s work has primarily been with  themeat and deli portion of the grocery business. So for the next few months he will continue to help owners Tadd Prins and Chris Moosey learn the ins and outs of that part of the business.

Bill bought into Drooger’s Food Center in 2003, which at the time was owned by Mike Drooger and Tom Bouma.
