Harvey Ryswyk

Harvey Leroy Ryswyk passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, at the age of 94, at the Edgebrook Assisted Living Care Center.

A funeral service was held for Harvey on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, 10:30 a.m., at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Edgerton, with Pastor Marlin Van Schepen officiating. The congregation sang Great is Thy Faithfulness, We Plow the Fields and Scatter, When Peace Like A River, and By the Sea of Crystal, with Kendra Van Hill, pianist.

Casket bearers were Amber Guinen, Ashleigh Brown, Alex Hamstra,Mindy Walters, Adam Ryswyk, Trent Ryswyk, Kristen Sandhurst, Kelli Langfitt, Kensi Bolkema, Troy Ellens, Natalie Knevelbaard, and Cody Ellens. Honorary casket bearers were Kim Lindemulder, Jordan Ellens, and Trevor Ellens,

Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton.

Harvey was born to Paulus and Gertie (Van Essen) Ryswyk on August 6, 1930, on the family farm east of Edgerton. Harvey attended Leota Christian Grade School and graduated from Edgerton Public High School. Shortly after graduation, he married his best friend and the love of his life, Tressa Regina Mulder, on February 13, 1951. He then began working with his father on the family farm, living there until he was 68 years old. Harvey and Tressa retired and moved to Edgerton in 1999. Harvey continued to help on the farm until he moved to the Edgebrook Care Center in November of 2022. Harvey was a devoted husband and father whose passion was farming.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 74 years, Tressa; children: Lyn Ryswyk, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Larry Ryswyk (Dawn), Leota; Lisa Ellens (Pete) Lacombe, Alberta, Canada; Leanne Brands (Jeff), Sioux Falls, S.D.; 15 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren with one on the way. He is also remembered by in-laws Ken and Muriel Van Zanten, Littleton, Colo., and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents Paulus and Gertie Ryswyk; brother Cornelius Ryswyk; sister Margaret Berghorst; and 3 great-grandchildren, Owen and Emerson Ryswyk, and Sawyer Langfitt.
