Stan DeWeerd

January 3, 1956 – August 10, 2024

Stanley DeWeerd passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Pipestone County Hospice House at the age of 68 years. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Woodstock Community Church with Pastor Brian Dengler officiating. Burial was in Woodstock Cemetery.

Stanley Keith DeWeerd was born on January 3, 1956 to Albert and Jacoba (DeGroot) DeWeerd in Pipestone, Minnesota. In 1956, he was baptized at the Holland Christian Reformed Church in Holland, Minnesota. He was raised on the family farm north of Pipestone and attended Holland Christian Grade School. and attended Verdi High School until 1972. Then he moved with his family to Woodstock, Minnesota, and continued his education in Ruthton, Minnesota. After his graduation from Ruthton High School, he attended Pipestone Technical College for two years for Auto Mechanics. He then began working at Southside Motors in Pipestone and later at Sturdevants in Pipestone. In 1999, he started his own business “Stan’s Electric” in Pipestone which he owned and operated until his death.

Stan was a member of Woodstock Community Church where he served as a deacon, elder and Sunday school leader. He loved visiting state parks, gardening, beekeeping and small livestock. He will be remembered for his strong family values and his unwavering faith. He had a positive attitude – saying “that’s wonderful.”

He is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Theressa DeWeerd of Mesa, Arizona, Darlene Willert of Lake Benton, Minnesota, Edith Doppenberg of Ripon, California, Arthur (Marie) DeWeerd of Pipestone, Minnesota, Donald (Beverly) DeWeerd of Pipestone, Harold DeWeerd of Mesquite, Texas, and Esther (Robert) Masselink of Edgerton, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Jacoba DeWeerd; siblings and in-laws, Marvin and Martha DeWeerd, Dennis Willert, Gerrit Doppenberg, Marie DeWeerd and Howard DeWeerd; one nephew, Brent DeWeerd; great nephews, Delbert Willert, Nathan Ellis, and Cuyler Willert.
