MARCELLA HOEKMAN

June 3, 1942 – December 6, 2023
Marcella Hoekman was born on June 3, 1942, in Leota, Minnesota, to Peter and Bertha (Van Dyke) Kooiman. She grew up near Leota and graduated from Southwest Christian High School in Edgerton, Minn. She went on to attend Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa.
On September 15, 1960, she and Anthony Hoekman were married at the Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Leota. Following their marriage they farmed southwest of Slayton, Minn., until 1990 when they moved to a farm northwest of Hadley, Minn. They remained near Hadley until the tornado of 1992 demolished the farm. They then made their home northeast of Heron Lake, Minn., for 25 years. Marcella owned and operated Classic Wedding Expressions coordinating weddings throughout the surrounding area.
They later moved to Tracy for a time before Marcella moved to Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton. She passed away there on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the age of 81.
She was a member of Jackson Baptist Church in Jackson, Minn. Marcella enjoyed time with her family, especially her grandchildren, flowers, birds, butterflies, and traveling.
Survivors include her husband, Anthony Hoekman of Edgerton, three children and their spouses, Barbara and Anthony Dimmers of Dover, Delaware, Diane and Morris Davis of Linwood, N.C., and Esther and Michael Homandberg of Sioux Falls, S.D., nine grandchildren: Austen Witte, Aaron Witte, and Becki Towne, Keesha and Ray Marsteller, Amber and Tom Jewell, A’livia Dorale, LeAnna Homandberg and Adam Traft, Kara and Dylan Von Holtum, Lydia Homandberg, and Audra Homandberg, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A private family service will be held.
