ALVINA BEEK

March 6, 1936  – September 2, 2023

Alvina Beek passed away at Edgebrook Care Center, Edgerton, Minn., on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the age of 87. 

Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Church in Lake Wilson, Minn., on Monday, September 11, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Peter Schuster officiating. Interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Worthington, Minn. The organist was Sharon Lais and the song leader was Julie Steenstra.  Pallbearers were her grandchildren.  

Alvina Beek was born on March 6, 1936, in Luverne, Minnesota, to Leopold and Bertha Recker Dollander.  She grew up in Lismore, Minn., and graduated from St. Anthony’s Catholic High School. 

On January 21, 1956, she and Harold Beek were married at St. Mary’s Church in Worthington.   Following their marriage they made their home in Worthington until 1958 when they moved to a farm near Magnolia, Minn.  In 1968 they moved to a farm south of Lake Wilson. In 1993 they retired and moved to Chandler, Minn.  Harold passed away on May 21, 1995.  Alvina remained in Chandler until 2018 when she moved to Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton.  

She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Lake Wilson and was a member of the C.C.W.  She also was a member of the Lake Wilson American Legion Auxiliary.  Alvina enjoyed reading, watching sports, and playing cards. 

 Survivors include her four sons and their spouses, Stephen and Bonita Beek of Lake Wilson, Craig and Laurie Beek of New Prague, Minn., Mark and Kris Beek of Lake Wilson, and Brian and Terri Beek of Lake Wilson, 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold, son, Randall, and two sisters, and their spouses, Alice and Dick Werkmen and Barb and Wayne Langland.
