MARILYN SONJA WALHOF

October 16, 1942 – July 12, 2023
Marilyn Sonja Walhof was born to Gerald and Jennie Moret Van Reulder on October 16, 1942.
Marilyn attended schools in Chandler, Minn., and graduated from Chandler High School in 1960. After graduation, she moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where she worked as an accountant.
In 1963 she married, two daughters were born to that union, Cindy and Vicki. Marilyn and her family lived in Richfield, Brainerd, Roseville, and New Brighton, Minnesota.
Marilyn was a very good businesswoman, she enjoyed accounting and she understood the manufacturing of circuit boards. That enjoyment gave her the ability to travel to different places with many different groups of people, and continued to work until she was in her 70’s. When she finally retired, she moved to the lake in Forest Lake, Minnesota.
She was known as a mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor. Those were things she was very proud of. Marilyn had a large heart and felt the need to help when she could, be it making dinner for someone that was not feeling well or making homemade Bailey’s for all the neighbors for Christmas.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Jennie Van Reulder; her sister, Susan Pronk; and brothers-in-law, John Mollema and Woody Parrish.
She is survived by daughters: Cindy (Paul) Varhol of Lake Elmo, Minn., Victoria (Steve) Franke of Fargo, N.D.; grandchildren, Tyler and Trent Varhol; sister, Jennet Mollema of Chandler, and sister, Connie Parrish of Shoreview, Minn.
Marilyn’s funeral service will be Wednesday, August 2, at 1 p.m., with a visitation one hour prior at Billman-Hunt, 2701 Central Ave. NE, Minneapolis. A celebration of life will be immediately following at Jax Café, 1928 University Ave. NE, Minneapolis.
