WILLIAM “BILL” BLEYENBERG

September 20, 1942 – June 17, 2023
Bill Bleyenberg, 80, passed away June 17, 2023. Memorial services were held Saturday, June 24, 2023, 10:00 a.m., at First Christian Reformed Church, Edgerton, Minn., with Rev. Scott Muilenburg officiating. Special numbers Because He Lives and Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone) were given by Art Bleyenberg and Tom Bouma. Congregational hymns were In Sweet Communion, Gather At the River, and How Great Thou Art.
Pallbearers were Willie Bleyenberg, Troy Bleyenberg, Frankie Dupre, AJ Ciaburri, Dylan Ciaburri, William Bleyenberg III, and Liam Kveene. Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton.
William (Bill) John Bleyenberg was born to Art and Carrie Bleyenberg on September 20, 1942, (80 years old) on the farm just outside Edgerton. He attended grade school at the Free Christian School and later on, got his GED in the military. He joined the military in 1958 where he served for 6 years. Several years later, he met his beloved Jeanette Boeve. They married October 30, 1962, and were just as in love 60 years later.
Bill was an agricultural salesman and a history buff. He was an avid reader and oftentimes read into the late hours of the night. He adored and loved spending time with all his grandchildren.
Bill and Jeanette loved traveling together. He also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins baseball and played slow pitch softball in his younger years. One of best qualities was he could make friends wherever he went and was always the best listener.
Bill will be missed by: his wife Jeanette, children- Willy (Julie) Bleyenberg of Dickinson, North Dakota, Tamara (Frankie) Dupre of Houma, Louisiana, and Troy (Tasha) Bleyenberg of Hermiston Oregon; his 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, his siblings-Betty Ann (Alvin) Bleyenberg; Carla Kane, Jim (Gloria) Bleyenberg, Bob (Martha) Bleyenberg, Art (Mary) Bleyenberg, brother-in-law Harold Steenstra, sisters-in-law Charlotte and Elaine Bleyenberg, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by: his parents, Art and Carrie; sister, Ethel Steenstra; four brothers, Arnie Bleyenberg, Arvin Bleyenberg, Eugene Bleyenberg, and Gary Bleyenberg; sister-in-law, Rose Bleyenberg; brother-in-law, Larry Kane; and grandchildren, Abbigail Egbutjie and Gerrilyn Koning.
