BERNARD BEUKELMAN

October 27, 1945 – May 19, 2023
Bernard (Bernie) Beukelman, 77, of Corsica, S.D., was called home to his faithful savior Jesus on Friday May 19, 2023. Funeral services were Monday, May 22, 2023 at 10:30 in Grace Reformed Church in Corsica. A committal service with Military Honors followed at the Graceland Cemetery in Corsica.
Bernie Beukelman was born October 27, 1945, to Arie and Nellie (Klein) Beukelman near Joubert, S.D. He graduated from the 8th grade. On September 7, 1966 he married Patricia (Pat) Vlietstra in Edgerton Minn.
At the time they got married Bernie and Pat lived in Platte, S.D., and he worked for Meyerink Construction and was involved in the Army National Guard. From there they moved to Corsica and worked at the Corsica Bakery. Eventually he started to work for another construction company. Bernie and Pat started their own business in Corsica called the Economy Center on main street. After the Economy Center closed shop, Bernie and his brother, Harold, started their own business called Beukelman Construction. After retirement from construction Bernie and Pat bought Spud’s IGA and turned it into Bernie’s Market and ran it for 10 years. After the store he started working for Trail-Eze (Petro) for 15 years until his retirement.
Bernie was an active member of the Grace Reformed Church serving as elder and deacon for many years. He was also a member of the Everson-Beukelman American Legion Post 274. He enjoyed going to coffee uptown visiting with men from the community.
During the years together, Bernie enjoyed motorcycle trips and camping trips with family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He spent many road trips with each of his kids.
Grateful to have shared his life is his wife of 56 years, Pat of Corsica; his children Teri (Jerry) Wisdom of Corsica, and Brenda (Jeremy) Iedema of Platte; his eight grandchildren: Kelcie (Chris) Stahl, Kyla Beukelman (Brad Cranny), Kolby (Brittney Edwards) Beukelman, Marlina (Tallon) Stunes, Styler (Wopela) Wisdom, Kayla Wisdom, Taylor Iedema, and Madison Iedema. His 11 great-grandchildren: Conner, Brysen and Kenzie Stahl, Jocelynn Cranny, Aidan and Quinn Stunes, Roman and Mila Wisdom, Kasch and Elias Beukelman, his brother Harold (Betty) Beukelman, three sisters-in-law: Chris Fey, Judy (Andy) Brummel and Sandy (Ron) Brands.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents Arie and Nellie Beukelman, in-laws Nick and Margaret Vlietstra, 2 sons, Leslie and Curtis Beukelman, a brother, John (Jack) Beukelman, and brother-in-law, Al Fey.
