CORNIE  VAN LANT

October 8, 1929 – January 27, 2023

Cornie  Van Lant, age 93, of rural Chandler, Minn., died Friday, January 27, 2023, at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton. Funeral services were Friday, February 3, 2023, 10:30 a.m. at the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota, Minn., officiated by Pastor David Van Lant. A private family burial will take place at a later date at the Leota Community Cemetery.

Cornie was born October 8, 1929, in Moulton Township, rural Chandler, to John Sr. and Frieda (Halbersma) Van Lant. He attended country school.

Cornie married Jeane De Jong on September 28, 1950, at the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota. The couple farmed near Chandler. Cornie continued to farm until October of 2022, when he became a resident of the Edgebrook Care Center. He also worked at Roelofs Implement in Edgerton; and the Pipestone Sale Barn.  He served on the Moulton Township Board for over thirty two years.

He was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family.

Cornie is survived by his four children, Verna (Warren) Netjes, Andover; Brad (Deb) Van Lant, Linn Creek, Mo; Brenda (Dwayne) Vander Vliet, Luverne; and Diane (friend, David BVan Den Berg) Irish, Sioux Falls, SD; thirteen grandchildren, Tammy, Kari, Sherri, Vicki, Michael, Jackie, Tyler, David, Cory, Brett, Amber, Ashley and Adam; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Fran Anker, Luverne; Elsie Ver Hey, Edgerton; and Rose (Art) Bleyenberg, Edgerton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeane on March 1, 2017; daughter, Joyce Shultis in 2007; two brothers, John Jr. and Lawrence Van Lant; and seven sisters, Eva, Henrietta, Lillian, Edna, Alberta, Janet and Nellie.
