August 13, 1957 –

Gerrit Jr. Van Dyk, 65, a former resident of rural Edgerton, recently passed away at his residence in Ortonville, Minn., of natural causes.

He was born on August 13,1957, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc., to Gerrit and Edna (Van Lant) Van Dyk.

He attended schools in Minnesota and California, graduating from Mayfair High School in Lakewood, Calif. Gerrit worked in various vocations in his lifetime: a school district in Hemet, Calif., HVAC industry, farming in Minnesota, and electrical work for windmill installations in Minnesota and North Dakota.

Gerrit is survived by 5 children: Tara Van Dyk, Norco, Calif., Alissa Stuart, Corona, Calif., Leanna Van Dyk, San Diego, Calif., Brandon Van Dyk, Crestline, Calif., and Justin Van Dyk, Ft Bliss, Tex.; 5 grandchildren, 4 sisters, 1 brother, 3 nieces, 5 nephews, 3 aunts, 2 uncles, and numerous cousins.

Gerrit was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Edna Van Dyk, brother Jon, nephew Duane,

and infant nephew David Gerrit.

Gerrit loved helping those in need when he could. He was grateful to know the Van Lant family farm always stayed in the Van Lant family.

He will be missed by family and friends but we take comfort in knowing he is in the arms of Jesus until we meet again.
