STANTON HARTOG

September 8, 1934 – November 23, 2022
Stanton Eldredge Hartog was born September 8, 1934, in St. Paul, Minn. At the age of 8 months he was adopted by Adrian and Mamie (Huisken) Hartog. Stan lived his entire life in Edgerton, Minn., going to Edgerton Christian School first through the eighth grade and the ninth and tenth grades at Southwest Christian High. He completed his high school education at Western Christian High School, Hull, Iowa. He graduated in 1952. Stan was known for his quick wit and friendly outgoing personality. He made everyone welcome and important.
Stan met and dated Phyllis Bliek while attending Western Christian High School. They married in 1954 in Lebanon, Iowa. Stan worked for his father at Hartog Piano and Organ Co in Edgerton. The young couple settled in Edgerton and lived in an apartment above the store. Stan and Phyllis were blessed with 6 girls. Stan and family loved to camp during the summer. Stan reunited with his biological mother later in life and maintained a good relationship with her and his siblings. In 1988 Stan and Phyllis divorced.
When his father Adrian passed away in 1964, Stan took over the business, Hartog Piano and Organ Co. Stan retired from the business in 2020 after 62 years. Stan loved the sale and installation of organs, many of which were completed with Archie Nibbelink. On occasions other individuals from Edgerton were invited to assist Stan in the delivery and installation of organs. Hartog Piano and Organ Co covered southern Minnesota, northwest Iowa, and all of South Dakota. Occasionally Stan invited his daughters to accompany the installation of organs. Stan developed many personal relationships with those met in the sale of organs. Stan was involved in many community activities.
Stan met Linda Ellsworth while installing an organ and married her in 1990. To this union Stan acquired 2 step-daughters. Linda passed away in 2020.
In July 2021, Stan entered Edgebrook Care Center. He passed away peacefully November 23, 2022, while in Edgebrook Care Center.
Stan was a lifelong member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Edgerton.
Stan is survived by his half siblings; his daughters, Colett Broekhuis (Daryl), Everett, Wash.; Shawna Veldhuizen, Pipestone, Minn.; Aletha Green, (William) San Jose, Costa Rica; Valma Evink (Douglas) Arden Hills, Minn.; Monice Martell (Rick) Crystal, Minn.; Amy Larson (Gary) Edmonds, Wash.; step-daughters Noelle Nelson (Lee) Arden Hills; Tiffany Haenfler (Ryan) Edgerton; grandchildren: Heather, Heide, Darren, Daphne, Larissa, Griffin, Gathin, Chantel, William, Austin, Michelle, Brianna, Brandon, Jarod, Neal, Jay, Isaac, Shalyn, Conner ; step-grandchild Dylan; and other relatives and friends.
Stan was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Adrian and Mamie, and his adopted brother, Howard.
