FRANK DEGROOT

July 14, 1925 – November 26, 2022
Frank DeGroot, age 97, went to be with his Lord Saturday, November 26, 2022.
Visitation with friends and relatives took place from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Cook Memorial Chapel in Grandville, Mich. A Celebration of Frank’s Life commenced immediately following at 3 p.m., with Pastor Tom Pettinga officiating.
Frank was born and raised on his parents’ farm in Pipestone County, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II – stationed in California. After he returned home, he met and married Dorothy, started his family in Edgerton, Minnesota, before moving his family to Michigan and finally settling in Jenison.
Frank was a longtime member of the Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church where he sang tenor in the church choir for many, many years. In his retirement, Frank volunteered for LOVE, INC in Hudsonville, fixing donated lawn mowers with one of his neighbors, something which he was proud of and enjoyed. He always enjoyed fixing things.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy DeGroot; son, Bruce; parents Harm John and Alice DeGroot.
He will be remembered by his sons Donley (Cheryl) DeGroot and Terry (Cindy) DeGroot; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters Nellie Brink, Mayme (Art) Spronk, and Vonnie (Al) Walhof; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
