KEVIN MESMAN

March 6, 1978 – September 22, 2022

Kevin Dale Mesman, 44, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. 

Public visitation was held from 12:00-2:00p.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., following the visitation. Interment took place at Hillside Cemetery in Edgerton, Minnesota. 

Kevin was born on March 6, 1978, in Luverne, Minn., to Les and Faye (Gunnink) Mesman. He was raised and educated in Edgerton, Minn., graduating from Southwest Minnesota Christian High School in 1996. Kevin also attended Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in exercise science in 2000.

Kevin was united in marriage to Paula Elenbaas on August 4, 2000, at Faith Community Church in Zillah, Washington. The couple then settled in Sioux Falls where they were blessed with three children: Lindsey Kay, Landon James, and Colin Dale.

Kevin was employed in multiple fields throughout his life. Although he was a personal trainer at several facilities in town and drove for UPS, Kevin’s passion in life was officiating soccer games and serving as a trusted mentor to fellow referees. He officiated at many levels, including Division 1 college and semi-professional soccer leagues. 

In addition to soccer, Kevin enjoyed family gatherings, playing games, fishing, watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, and playing sports with his kids.

Kevin is survived by his children, Lindsey Mesman, Landon Mesman, and Colin Mesman; ex-wife, Paula Mesman; father, Les “Ike” Mesman; siblings, Diane (David) Stansberry, Lance (Michele) Mesman, and Glenn Mesman; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Faye Mesman, and his stepmother, Gladys Gerdes-Mesman.
