PETER VOS

March 23, 1933 – March 2, 2021
Peter (Pete) Vos passed away March 2, 2021, at Alamo, Texas. Due to the pandemic and distance of travel for all, there will be no organized memorial service.
Pete was born to Bertha (Smith) and John Vos on March 23, 1933. In 1949 he moved with his parents to Leota, Minn., when his dad was installed as pastor at the Bethel Reformed Church. He was a graduate of Edgerton High School in 1951.
He was married to Betty (Van Surksum) on March 4, 1954. Pete served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. Pete was a teacher (H.S. biology), Bible camp manager (Camp Koinonia in Annandale, Minn.), principal at Hinckley High School in Minnesota, beekeeper, over-the-road trucker, and campground host at Gooseberry Falls State Park.
Pete loved to travel, fly airplanes, and play golf. Depending on the season of his life he enjoyed gardening, logging, building, remodeling, ice fishing, and trips to the BWCAW. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan!
Pete was extremely musical. He loved to sing hymns, direct his church choir, and play the trombone. He even built a pipe organ for a church while a member of the congregation. He was a man of many interests and talents.
After retirement, Pete and Betty traveled around the country in their RV, eventually settling in at the Trophy Gardens Community in Alamo, Texas.
Pete is survived by his wife Betty, four children; Peter (Linda Paige) of Grand Rapids, Minn., John (Shirlee) of Paducah, Ky., Bobby (Konnie) of Juneau, Alaska, and Carla (Ronnie) Ballantine of Two Harbors, Minn., as well as 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Elizabeth Van Lant.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandson Kadyn.
