JOHN DEKRUIF

October 17, 1934 – February 19, 2021

John DeKruif, 86, formerly of Chandler and Luverne, died on Friday, February 19, 2021, at his home in Tempe, Ariz. He was born October 17, 1934, in Chandler, Minn., to John and Grace (DeVries) De Kruif.

John married Viola DeJager on November 22, 1955. The couple lived in Luverne for a short time before they moved to Tempe in 1967.

John had an interest in sports, enjoyed playing board games, and was an avid card player. He loved his family and always enjoyed being around his children and grandchildren. He lived modestly but was always generous with his time and money, and he was very faithful serving the churches he attended.

John is survived by his wife, Viola, and two children, Jeff (Julie) DeKruif, Centennial, Colo., and Cindy (David) DeJong, Casa Grande, Ariz.; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Grace VandeBrake, Bellflower, Calif.; Evelyn (Wallace) Runia, Balaton; and Faye (Arnold) DeKam, Mountain Grove, Mo.; and one brother, Henry (Adrianna) DeKruif, Sioux Falls, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William DeKruif; and five sisters, Jen Eernissee, Elsie VandeVoort, Marie VanderTop, Johanna DeGroot and Wilamene Schoolmeester.
