Roger William Post was born May 9, 1948, to William and Bertha (Blom) Post in Willmar, Minn. He was raised on a farm northwest of Prinsburg.
Roger attended Central MN Christian School, graduating in 1966. He was baptized and made profession of faith at First Christian Reformed Church of Prinsburg. He joined the Army Reserves in September of 1966 and served until October of 1972.
Roger married Lorna Behrends on August 16, 1968, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City, Minn. They made their home on a farm northwest of Prinsburg where they raised their four children. Roger enjoyed farming there 30 years and then went to work at Maracom in Willmar where he worked until he had to retire due to a bad heart. Roger underwent a total heart transplant on September 21, 2010. After a year of recovery, he was able to return to the employment of his dreams. He became an employee of his son-in-law where he could drive truck and be a “farm boy” again.
Roger and Lorna moved from the farm in 2002 to live 11 years in Clara City before becoming residents of Edgerton in 2013.
While living in the Prinsburg-Clara City area, Roger was a member of First CRC in Prinsburg, where he was a Cadet counselor for many years as his three sons went through the program. He was also an usher and did valet parking. Since moving to Edgerton, he has been a member of Bethel CRC where he has been an usher, greeter, host, and his most rewarding, a children’s message leader.
He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. While on the farm, he spent many hours playing ball with his kids, teaching them to ride bike, and helping them with many school, church, and fun activities. His family was a great joy to him. He enjoyed the ten years after getting his new heart as he was able to witness grandchildren’s weddings, graduations, professions of faith, baptisms, and an adoption of two more grandchildren. He was also able to get to spend time with two great-grandchildren. He loved having family around. He also liked to travel, which he did a lot of in the last ten years.
Roger will be remembered lovingly by his wife of 52 1/2 years, Lorna, three sons, Todd (Darci) Post, Darren (Amy) Post, Brian (Sara) Post; a daughter, Renae (Corey) Van Stelten; 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Emma and Arlin Disselkoen of Greeley, Colo.; Harold and Ruth Post of Prinsburg; Elroy and Bernice Post of Oshkosh, Wisc.; and Beverly and Paul VandeVoort of Jasper, Minn.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bertha Post, and by a great-grandson, Wyatt Veldkamp.
