Everett R. Hind, 85, formerly of Edgerton, Minnesota, died Friday, January 1, 2021, at Pleasant View Home in Inman, Kansas.

A private family service was held Saturday, January 9, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., at Christ the King Free Lutheran Church in Pipestone, Minn.

Everett Roy Hind was born to Willis and Alice (Davis) Hind on May 10, 1935, in Northwest Iowa, and grew up in NW Iowa and SW Minnesota, where he attended school, graduating in 1954. On June 18, 1954, he was united in marriage to Verna Hobbie at Slayton Presbyterian Church in Slayton, Minnesota.  Following their marriage, they resided in Egan, South Dakota.

A short time later they moved to Wilmore, Kentucky, where he attended Asbury Theological Seminary for one year, then transferred to Wessington Springs College and Seminary in Wessington Springs, S.D.  He also took courses from Fuller Theological Seminary. After he completed his education, he began pastoring churches in the area before moving to Huron, South Dakota, to Pastor the Free Methodist Church and then to the Free Methodist Church in Bemidji, Minnesota. Then, in 1975, they moved to Peever, South Dakota, to work with Lowell Lundstrom Ministries. Two years later, they moved to Holland, Minnesota, where he began Family Fulfillment Ministries, then later to Edgerton, where he became the Chaplain of the Edgebrook Care Center In 2012, they moved to McPherson, Kansas, before moving to Inman, Kansas.  He died on January 1, 2021 at the Pleasant View Home at the age of 85 years, seven months, and 22 days.

Ev attended the Free Methodist Church in McPherson, Kansas. He was a member of Kiwanis in Pipestone, Minnesota, and served as the Police Chaplain in Bemidji.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, and cooking.  His turkey stuffing was his specialty.   He handed out peanut M&M’s to the grandkids and told them they were vitamins.  He often said, “Keep smiling. It makes people wonder what you are up to.” Ev had a heart of a servant and was an encourager.  He always wanted to buy his wife a gift.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Verna Hind of Inman; three children, Debbie (Robert) Bailey of McPherson, Kansas, Jeff (Katherine) Hind of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Carmon (Don) Penner of Inman; son-in-law, Greg (Nancy) Vanasse of Delano, Minnesota; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Everett was preceded in death by his daughter, Beven Vanasse; his parents, Willis and Alice Hind; and one brother, Ronald Hind.
