ANTHONY BAAR

May 15, 1938 – November 28, 2020

Anthony “Tony” Baar, 82, of Cutlerville, Mich., died November 28, 2020. Due to COVID, a memorial service will be held at a later date.

In loving memory of a true and faithful servant of God. With great wisdom, kindness, and compassion he ran the race set before him. Tony was a dedicated member of the Christian Reformed Church, serving in various roles at the First CRC of Cutlerville.

Tony received his teaching degree from Calvin College. He taught Latin at Zeeland Christian for 3 years and at South Christian for 1 year. Most of his career (32 years) was spent teaching music, English, and history at Legacy Christian School. Music was a big part of his life. He sang with the “Singing Hyms,” and loved it so very much! He was a mentor for many years for “Kid’s Hope,” an instructor for “Crossroads”… helping prisoners with Bible studies, and an instructor for “Project Phillip Bible Study.” Tony’s happiest moments were spent with his family.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Vel (Van Dyke); daughter, Cindy (Keith) VerHage; sons, Kevin (Jan) Baar, Steve (Sue) Baar, Rob (Bonnie) Baar, Dan (Sharon) Baar; 16 precious grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. For the celebration of graduation, the grandchildren each received from “Grandpa” a photo remembrance book that traced their life through pictures and text. He will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews with special love.

Tony has “fought the good fight,” he has “finished the race,” he has “kept the faith.”
