SANDRA POPMA

August 4, 1959 – November 21, 2020

Sandra “Sandy” Popma, 61, of Hudsonville, Mich., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 21, 2020.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m. at the Resurrection Life Church in Grandville, Mich., with Pastor Duane Vander Klok officiating.

Sandy was born on August 4, 1959, to Dick and Hazel (Tinklenberg) Kroon of rural Edgerton, Minn. She moved with her family to Michigan when she was about one year old.

Sandy fought a courageous four-month battle with cancer with Doug by her side. She had a faith that could move mountains, a love that was unconditional for all, and a smile that could light up a room. She found joy and happiness in several mission trips. She had a passion for painting, and a love for travel, boating, and the outdoors. She was an adventurous spirit – always ready for the challenge. She was a beloved, active grandmother to her seven grandchildren. Her home was a safe haven for her friends, family, and those who needed love. She was a black belt in karate. Most of all, Sandy loved her Lord and Savior, family, and friends.

She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 42 years, Doug Popma; children Jason (Suzanne) Popma, Jessica (Dan) Koorndyk, Travis (Yoshi) Popma, Nathan (Leta); six grandchildren; her parents, Dick and Hazel Kroon of Wayland, Mich.; two siblings Rick Kroon, Dallas (Jen) Kroon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Orrin Kroon.
