Evelyn Joyce Lubben, 84, of Leota, Minn., died Friday, November 27, 2020, at her home. She was born on January 18, 1936, on the family farm near Chandler, Minn., the eighth of ten children born to James and Jennie (Schelhaas) Post. From her younger years, Evy shared many stories of hardships and challenges on the family farm. She attended a country school near Chandler and graduated from Chandler High School.
Evy married Ed Lubben on March 1, 1955, at the Chandler Christian Reformed Church. After their marriage, the couple farmed by Lismore and southeast of Leota for a few years. Then, in 1962, they moved to a farm southwest of Leota. It was at this farm that she faithfully raised four boys. She told many stories of the mischief these boys got into! As a grandmother and great-grandmother, she was always present, rarely missing an important event. Ed and Evy then moved into town in 2016.
Evy loved so many things in life. She especially loving helping and giving to others. She loved sewing, volunteering at the thrift store, church, and school, and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a talented sewer. If it could be made or fixed with a sewing machine – she did it! She loved getting together on Sundays and always insisted on cooking the main meal. Her homemade bread was the greatest of all time; something her family will never forget and will miss immensely!
Evy is remembered for being a faithful servant to our Lord as well as serving her family and friends in a multitude of ways. Her family will remember her love the most as they were blessed with a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was devoted, involved, and truly cared.
Evy is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ed of Leota; four sons, Randy (Martha) of Reading, Keith of Tracy, Cal (Char) of Leota, and Vince (Jeanine) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and two more on the way; two brothers, Frank (Arlene) Post of Chandler and James (Sue) Post of Lake Wilson; and two sisters Edith Walhof of Edgerton and Kathy (Lou) Kuhl of Worthington.
Evy was proceeded in death by her parents; three sisters, Bernice Manderschied, Ada DeKoekoek, and Geneva Toering; two brothers, Walter and Nelson Post; and she is now in heaven holding the unborn infants of her family.
