Edna Henrietta Kole, age 92, was born on April 14, 1932, near Kesley,
Iowa, the oldest of three children of George A. and Katie (Kampman) Meyer. She received her edu- cation from Aplington High School and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.
On July 11, 1952, Edna was united in marriage to Marius L. Kole. They lived many places over their years together, but the majority was in Dike, Iowa, and later Aplington, Iowa. They were blessed with 4 children. Marius and Edna enjoyed travelling to visit family, volunteering with CRWRC (now Renew) and they spent several winters in Texas. After her husband died in 2005, Edna moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to be near two of her daughters.
Edna held many jobs over the years, excelling in all: a school librarian, a small business owner, a copy editor for Oster Communications, and in “retirement” she worked at Heirloom Creations, finally leaving the workforce at the age of 82.
After moving to Sioux Falls, she became a member of First Christian Reformed Church where she trained and served as a Stephen Minister. Edna’s pastimes included knitting and reading, but her real passion was creating quilts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Katie Meyer, her husband, Marius Kole, her sister, Lois Wessels, her brother-in-law, Ralph Wessels, her brother, Donald Meyer, her brother-in- law, Jacob Kole, her son, Jay Kole and her son-in-law, Timothy Schiebout.
She is survived by three children: Rochelle Schiebout, Sioux Falls, Renee (Dallas) Roskamp, Edg- erton, and Karen (Harry) Van Harten, Calgary, Alberta. She also leaves daughter-in-law Jody Kole (Jay); 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
