Leota Park receives funds

On Wednesday, August 21, Nobles Co-op Electric, along with CoBank, a national cooperative bank, donated $10,000 to the Leota Park Board. The funds were to help defer the costs of their recent upgrades.

The upgrades at the park included doubling the size of the concrete pad outside the shelter, installing all new windows, adding a tin ceiling and new lighting, and installing a new deep washing sink. The plan is to add insulation above the ceiling in the future.

Nobles Co-op donated $5,000 of the money and that amount was matched by CoBank through their “Sharing Success” program

“We’ve enjoyed a strong partnership with CoBank for years and consistently seek opportunities to bring funds into our communities,” said Tracey Haberman with NCE. “Nobles Cooperative Electric is grateful that CoBank acknowledges this and is eager to assist. We appreciate the matching program, as it en- courages us to carefully consider the projects we want to support and enables us to contribute significant funding.”

The CoBank “Sharing Success” program was established in 2012 and since that time they have contributed about $76 million to various groups including the Wilmont, Fulda, Rushmore, and Slayton fire departments, a new siren for the City of Ellsworth, and a Lucas device for Nobles County Emergency Management.
