GLENN DALE HANENBURG

February 25, 1945 — June 11, 2024

Glenn Dale Hanenburg, 79, Coopersville, Michigan, was welcomed home to glory to his Lord and Savior June 11, 2024, after a brutal two and a half months of fighting aggressive cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Lamont Christian Reformed Church, Coopersville, with Rev. Terry Slachter officiating. Burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Coopersville.

Glenn was born on February 25, 1945, in Pipestone, Minn., to the late Charles and Caroline Hanenburg.  Growing up on a dairy farm Glenn quickly learned the ethic of hard work.  Glenn met Jean Lubben in junior high and began dating in high school.  They were inseparable and eventually married in 1965 after 1 year of Dordt College for Glenn and 2 years of nurses training for Jean.

Glenn was drafted into the army to join the war as it escalated in Vietnam.  Five days after they married, Glenn left for basic training.  He was taken out of active combat after serving a year and finished his service with Jean stateside on base in Kentucky.

After the service, Glenn and Jean bought a dairy farm near his home town of Edgerton, Minn., where they welcomed 3 children.  In 1977, after 3 years of severe drought, the family packed up and moved to Michigan where Glenn managed the beef cattle operation at River Ridge Farms in Coop-ersville.  It was then they welcomed their 4th child.  Glenn finished his working years as maintenance manager at Oak Crest Manor in Holland, Mich., and Encore Floral in Walker, Mich.

Glenn loved horses his whole life but he loved his family and Jesus more.  He loved people and has affected many lives in his short 79 years of life.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte “Sue” Knott and his brother, Lee Hanenburg.

Glenn will be deeply missed by his bride, Jean, of 58 years; children Glynda (Marlin) Langeland, Lonna (Matthew) Driesenga, Brian (Afton) Hanenburg,  Maria (Mike) Sytsma; seven beloved grandchildren; brother Daryl (Donna) Hanenburg; brother-in-law Vernon (Wilvina) Lubben; sisters-in-law, Arlene (Rog) Zwart, Fay (Harv) Visscher, and Kay Koeman; and several nieces and nephews.   Glenn’s six precious great-grandchildren, Cooper, Penny, Casey, Cameron, Lawson and Ledger will miss their “Putt putt Papa” immensely.
