Unserviceable Flags Destroyed Honorably
On Thursday, June 16, after the Junior Legion baseball game, members of the American Legion held a special ceremony to dispose of American flags. The flags are officially inspected and then burned in a proper ceremony. There were nearly 80 old flags that were burned that evening. During the ceremony, Aaron Veldhuizen played To the Colors on his trumpet. The fire department also had a truck on scene for safety precautions. (photo by Jill Fennema)
