Lakeview Routs Dutchmen

By Skip Hunter –

Last Friday two winless teams met in Edgerton. Neither the nine from Lakeview High School in Cottonwood or the hometown Edgerton-Southwest Minnesota Christian Dutchmen had dented the win column this year.

The Lakers packed their hitting clothes and pounded E-SWC pitching for 18 runs. The Dutchmen were also generous on defense, committing 3 errors and giving up 4 walks while hitting 2 batters.

After the visitors put 2 runs on the board in the first inning, the home team scored 3, putting smiles on people’s faces. Skyler Feikema walked with 2 outs. Jacob Uilk advanced him to third with a single to right field. Uilk moved to second on an error, and Gavin Rieck brought both runners home with a single through the hole on the right side of the infield. After Rieck had moved to second on the throw home, Nathan Hoekman dropped a ball into right field to score Rieck.
