Coyotes Squeak by Dutchman, 7-6

By Skip Hunter –

It was a nice day last Thursday. The Dutchmen baseball team was trying to forget the cold and thumping at Adrian. They were facing a team that had not scored yet this year. Maybe they were too eager as wild swings and a lackluster effort on defense cost them a win as the Heron Lake/Okabena-Fulda Coyotes eked out a 7-6 win.

Trevin Prins started on the hill for E-SWC. He held the Coyotes scoreless into the fourth inning. The visitors picked up two runs in innings 4, 5, and 6, and the game winner in the seventh. Skyler Feikema took over in the fifth and gave up the final 3 runs.  To be fair to the pitchers two of the runs scored were unearned.

The home team broke the scoring ice in the third inning. Caden Sas drew a walk, moved to second on a Jacob Uilk single, stole third and came home on a throwing error. After HLOF took a 4-1 lead, E-SWC tied the score in the fifth inning.
