Dutch Festival Plans Taking Shape

Plans are taking shape for the 2022 Edgerton Dutch Festival. The annual event will be held on July 14-16.

The parade will be held on Friday evening, with a theme of “Salute to Heroes.” The committee said that your hero can be your mom, your nurse, Batman, or even your hairdresser during COVID-19. The prizes for floats are yet to be determined. But folks are encouraged to put their thinking caps on and start coming up with a float idea.

A new event this year will be a ATV Big Air Tour. This grand stand event will take place in the ball park on Saturday at 6 p.m. and will be a free event. The show will feature the popular BMX show from the past two years, with some additional high flying ATV and Moto tricks.

Saturday night’s entertainment will include two bands in the park: Hitchville, a midwest country band,  and Shirts & Skins a band that plays several types of contemporary and classic rock music. Some new things like a caricature artist, wooden shoe maker, and a balloon artist will be the park throughout the day on Saturday, too.

The bull ride event, inflatables, fireworks, pedal pull, vendor fair, and most of the events that people have come to expect at the festival will be returning this year. This year’s fishing contest will be named the Craig Fey Memorial Fishing Contest and will be held at Rock River Park.

The committee is looking for volunteers to help staff the inflatables this year and ask that people contact Keith Buckridge if they can help out. They would also still like a few more committee members. The current committee includes: Jesse Van Hofwegen, Ross Van Hulzen, Keith Buckridge, Emma and Nate Pfeifle, Logan Weis, Jacob Kreun, Spencer Mesman, and Tristan Fliehe.
