SCHOOL NEWS from SW Christian School grades 6-8

6-8 School News:  Science

8th grade science has found us talking about creation vs. evolution.  We had many good discussions and watched some interesting videos proving creation.  We realized that the best science textbook we could ever have is the Bible!

We also talked about dinosaurs from a Christian perspective and wrote and illustrated  non-fiction children’s books about dinosaurs.  We had a great time reading our books to the first graders!

7th graders are diving deep into the systems of the human body.  The digestive system has opened our eyes to the way our food travels through our bodies and what actually happens on its journey.  It’s a little disgusting at times!!  However, we are continually amazed at how God has intricately designed our bodies to perform the way they do!

In 6th grade science, we have been studying acids and bases in chemistry.  We were able to test several household items with litmus paper to determine if they were acids or bases.  We love to do any kind of lab, so chemistry has been fun for us!

Next, we will be focusing our studies on forces, motion, simple machines, and electricity.  Hopefully these topics will provide opportunities for lab experiments as well!
