School News from Free Christian School Lower Room

A classroom always seems the busiest during the months of December and May. With program practice, preparations for Christmas, excitement for a break, and all the festivities that surround the holiday, December goes by in a blur. The students of the lower room have given a brief synopsis of various classroom activities that we have had throughout the year and also during our busy December.

On my bingo chart I have to complete a chart in one month then I can get a big prize. Big prizes can be a small can of pop, candy, bandaids, little toys, cars, activity books, and playing cards. I have to complete two book reports on paper. I have to write my memory verse. I have to clean my desk. I have to do one oral book report. I have to read 30 minutes at home. I have to bring a show and tell. I have to do ten minutes of flashcards. It is fun. Before you know it, you will love it. It is my favorite part about school. I like school, math, handwriting, and Bible is fun.

Colby – Second Grade

We are learning about my body in science. We are learning the circulatory system. We will learn six systems. We have learned three systems so far. I like science a lot but not as much as Bible. We made a backbone out of lifesavers in the skeletal system. We put our fingers into four liquids to try the different tastes our tongues can sense. We did not like the vinegar at all.

Constance – First Grade

In my classroom our teacher reads to us. It’s called Read Aloud Time. In Read Aloud Time currently we have The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, where Lucy finds a faun named Tumnus, and her brothers can’t believe it. Then Edmond comes in the wardrobe and the queen gives Edmond a caramel candy. That’s what we’re up to. We draw, write, or rest our heads while she reads. My friends draw or write and I draw UFO’s.

Joey – Third Grade

At the program at the nursing home, we sang a few songs outside of the window. When we were done, we got candy from Gloria Bleyenberg. For our school Christmas program in the morning we practiced our songs. At night we sang to all the people in the pews. After we had cookies, bars, and drinks and got candy from the School Board. At the bank program, the classes took turns singing. After the program, we got snack mix in a bag. It was yummy!

Alice – Third Grade

I love recess. I love recess because there are lots of games to play with the upper room. We play soccer, crazy ball, capture the flag, and capture the cone. There is some games that only the lower room play when the upper room plays basketball or hockey. Recess is a lot more fun with the upper room. My favorite recess game is soccer. When it’s raining or below zero, we play huckle buckle beanstalk or four corners.

Gideon – Second Grade

Moses’ sister and brother’s names were Miriam and Aaron. Moses ran away into the desert when the Israelites didn’t want him as their leader. Moses married Zipporah, one of Jethro’s daughters. The king of Egypt was Pharaoh. Moses’ mother and father obeyed King Pharaohs command by putting Moses into a basket and hiding him in the reeds. Sometime after Moses had come to Jethro’s house, God commanded Moses to lead Israel out of Egypt.

Vera – First Grade

In PE we go to the gym at Nickolas’ school. We wait for our teacher and then run two laps. We play catch, throw the ball up, jump, and clap and catch it. We run to different lines back and forth. We play dodgeball. My favorite thing to do is run and dodgeball. For outside PE I like to play with parachutes.
