Nath Chosen As New Board Chairman

Last week Tuesday, the Pipestone County Board of Commissioners held its organizational meeting for the new year.  Les Nath, the commissioner from the Jasper area, was chosen as the chairman for 2022. Dan Wildermuth, who represents the Pipestone area, was chosen as the vice chairman.

There was some discussion of keeping the chair and vice chair the same as 2021 to allow for some continuity with some issues on the Pipestone County Medical Center board, but that was limited. Wildermuth pointed out that the chairman has no additional authority and simply presides over the meetings.

Once the leadership was chosen for the year, the board turned to routine matters for organization for the year. They adopted Rules and Procedures, meeting dates, and other housekeeping items.

The board also discussed their various committee assignments, agreeing to mostly keep their same appointments from 2021.

The County Board of Equalization meeting was set for Monday, June 13. This is the meeting where people can come to the board to appeal their property values or classifications.

The Edgerton Enterprise will serve as the official newspaper for Pipestone County for 2022.

The IRS rate for mileage is increasing to .585 cents per mile for 2022, so the county adopted that.  The meal allowance was raised from $40 per day to $50 a day.

Pipestone County Sheriff Keith Vreeman had a resolution for the county to approve. Pipestone County is the fiscal agent for the Buffalo Ridge Drug Task Force, a capacity they have served in for the past two years.  The board approved that measure.
