SCHOOL NEWS from EPS 3-5

Fifth grade

Fifth graders have been busy learning a lot this year! In math, we have been polishing up our knowledge in place value and multiplication facts. The photos show students reviewing these skills! In reading, we are almost through with Number the Stars-which we are thoroughly enjoying! Every chapter leaves us in suspense!! In social, we discovered many facts about Native Americans and did an ABC narrative about a particular region.

Fourth grade

The fourth grade classrooms, along with the rest of the school, have been celebrating the book fair this week, Nov. 8-12.  The students have been able to participate each day in the theme of “Togetherness.” We have been able to dress up in different colors each day. We also have been having coin wars each day to support our library.

Third grade

EPS third graders were excited to draw poppies in memory of veterans. The thank you poster was given to the veterans at Edgebrook Care Center.

3-5 PE school news

We have played many games in PE since school started. Some of their favorites were 4-Square, tag games, gaga ball, nitro ball, and invasion games, especially those that involved a football and a flag! This past week we used the long jump ropes to play “school” and they really got their hearts pumping when they participated in the “whirlwind challenge.” The winners of this challenge received a book from the book fair.

Next week we will participate in our speed stacks unit. On Thursday we will have our annual Guinness Book of World Record Speed Stack Day.
