EHS Girls Recognized In Red Rock Conference
By Mike Drooger –
The Red Rock Conference volleyball All-Conference and Honorable Mention list was released on November 5. Four members of the Edgerton Flying Dutchmen were named. Gaining All-Conference recognition were senior Reece Wassink and sophomore Alyda Vande Griend. Honorable Mention honors went to senior Kresley Fraser and junior Brenalyn Smit. As one would expect, that quartet of girls had an outstanding season in many statistical categories for the 15-12 Dutchmen.
Monday night, November 8, the team had a postseason party at Tally Ho where the Academic All-State players were recognized. The team gained the silver rank with a grade point average of 3.71. Individuals who attained a GPA of 3.5 or higher were Reece Wassink, Katelynn Rolla, Jaden Weinkauf, Haley Wieck, Kresley Fraser, and Emma Schoolmeester.
The Dutchmen will lose seven players via graduation, but they will return their leaders in blocks (Vande Griend—85), digs (Smit—404), assists (Mateya Gilbertson—358), and service receptions (Smit—448).
