School News from Little Dutchmen Preschool

3’s Preschool

Mrs. Zwart’s 3’s preschool class has been working on colors and adjusting to all the new experiences that starting school brings!

Right now our very favorite activity is our “color hunts.” On our color hunts we venture around the room and each child finds 1-2 items and brings them back to our rug. We then use those items to create a story and engage in some pretend play reenacting the story with the items we found while they color. The story can change as new items are found or new ideas are thought of. We build stores, farm fields, go on vacations and construct castles and skyscrapers.

We also enjoy snack time, yoga, dancing and could spend hours doing floor puzzles if we could!

4’s Preschool

Preschool started the year off with Mrs. Ranek in the fours classroom. She taught them how to be ready for the day. While she was here the kids had homecoming and got to dress up for a few different days. They had hat day and crazy sock day. Then when Mrs. Gunnink was back they started their tree unit. The students were able to go on a leaf hunt and find some leaves. They discussed how leaves can be different colors in the fall and how trees grow and the different parts of the trees. As alway they are busy busy learning their letters and reviewing colors and shapes. It sure is nice to be able to play in our classroom together again!
