New Auditor/Treasurer Chosen

By Jill Fennema –

Pipestone County has appointed a new auditor/treasurer. At last week’s county board meeting, the board approved hiring Amanda Barson Sandy. Sandy is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

She worked for the Meulebroeck and Taubert Accounting firm for 17 years prior to taking a position as the payroll manager at Pipestone System, where she has been for over five years. Sandy needed to give a four-week notice at her current position, so plans to take the auditor/treasurer position at the beginning of December.

Human Resources Director Cathy Feste said that they received 13 applications for the position. Of those, they interviewed eight individuals and four were called back for a second interview.

Commissioner Chris Hollingsworth commented, “The decision wasn’t easy,” adding that all the candidates had a lot to offer. One of the deciding factors in choosing Sandy was the fact that she is an experienced CPA.
