DUTCHMEN SOFTBALL FINISHED – TAKES THIRD

Writeup of Wednesday’s game by Mike Drooger:

It wasn’t a disappointing effort vs. the Randolph Rockets, but it was a disappointing result when Edgerton/SW MN Christian lost 5-0, which forced them into the 3rd/4th place game on Wednesday, June 16 at Caswell Park in Mankato at 10:00 in the morning.

The Dutchmen had finished playing the Rockets at 11:30 the night before, so there wasn’t a lot of time for rest and reflection, but they were ready to go against the Gators of Badger/Greenbush-Middle River.

In inning one, Addison Fleischman struck out the first two batters and got a pop up after a single to bring the Dutchmen to the plate. After Makenzie Snyder popped up, Paris Van Dyke lashed a single to left. She moved to second on the first of two Gator errors in the inning. Van Dyke was able to come home after Morgan Pap singled and E/SW led quickly 1-0.

Both teams went scoreless in inning two, but the Gators took a 2-1 lead in the third, which ended on yet another nice defensive play by Hannah Pap at second base.
