New Business Opens in Town

Darrin Kortleever is the newest business owner in Edgerton. He opened Kort’s Collision last week at the corner of Highway 9 and 17. The sight of his attractive 40×60 foot shop is where the former car wash was located.

Darrin has worked as an auto body mechanic for the past 24 years. After graduating from  high school he went to Ridgewater Technical College in Willmar to study auto body repair. After graduating he worked for D&S Auto in Chandler for a year and a half. He then moved to J&J Autoworks in Edgerton for 10 years. After that he worked in the auto body department at De Boer Chevrolet for the past 14 years.

Last year, after really thinking about it for several years, Darrin decided that he wanted to be his own boss and own his own business. He really enjoys all aspects of auto body repair. His shop includes a paint booth and mixing room in addition to ample space for working on vehicles.

Darrin uses Envirobase High Performance paint, which is a waterborne base coat system. Waterborne paints are environmentally friendly, yet very durable.

In addition to repairing damaged vehicle bodies, Darrin repairs windshields – whether it’s a chip repair or a full replacement. He also installs accessory items like running boards and mud flaps.

Darrin and his wife Kelly live in Edgerton. Kelly works for Pipestone Veterinary Services in Pipestone where she is in charge of biosecurity for their swine facilities. She has been doing that for about 10 years.

Kort’s Collision is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can reach Darrin at the shop by calling 442-2422.
