On Saturday, April 24, a special celebration was held at the Edgebrook Estates Assisted Living. Residents and staff remembered the wedding anniversaries of two local couples who have been married for many years.

One of those couples was Stan and Leona Sprik, who were married 70 years. The other couple was Ted and Jeanette Hanenburg, who were married 77 years.

These two couples, along with their friends from the assisted living were able to reminisce about the years they were married, what the price of household items were, the cost of gas, and so on. They also talked about what their weddings were like. They also sang favorite hymns that the couples selected. After the short program, they enjoyed coffee and cake together. Stan Sprik commented how things have changed in their lives and how the past year has been so different for them, living in the assisted living rather than their own home. He said that the other residents have become like family to them.
