SCHOOL NEWS from SWC Elementary

Easter Chapel

On Thursday, April 1, students at Southwest MN Christian participated in a chapel that celebrated Easter and also focused on our theme for the year. Our school’s motto, and theme for 20-21, is “Rooted in Christ, growing in wisdom, bearing fruit.” The Leaders for Life used the sunflower’s characteristics to reflect the Christian life.

First, sunflowers have extraordinarily deep roots. Their root system allows them to re-main healthy and grow, even if the surrounding soil gets dry. Second, the face of a sunflower is able to pivot so that it can always look to the sun for nourishment. Finally, because of these characteristics, one sunflower can produce thousands of seeds that make more sunflowers!

We were also led in worship by Leaders for Life and high school faculty that helped us remember and celebrate the death of Jesus Christ on Good Friday, as well as his conquering of death on Easter morning!

Plays

We had two plays recently. The 6th grade play was entitled “The Snow White Variety Show”- and the 8th grade play was called Romeo & Winifred, A Tragical Comedy.

We appreciate Christensen Broadcasting and Tom Bouma live-streaming our events.

The 6th grade play was directed by Tanya Talsma and Karen Dyk.

The 8th grade play was directed by Jessica Kaemingk. Tytus Vander Pol and Silas Van Essen ran the lights and sound.

Counting, Patterning, and the Five Senses

Kingdom kids learned about counting, making patterns, and all about the five senses!

Shown doing their counting and patterning practice is Willa Veldkamp, Caiden Feist, and Kya Hulstein

Kingdom kids 4’s wrapped up a unit on our five senses with a tasting party! Lemons gave us some super funny faces but when we popped a sugar cube into our mouths with it, we had lemonade!
