School News From Edgerton Public School Grades 3 and 5

Third grade

Mrs. Kallevig’s third graders celebrated the 100th day of school on February 11.  To celebrate, the students were going to have some cake, but unfortunately the cake went missing!  They had to find their cake by cracking the code.  This required them to use different clues to solve math problems, but they only had 45 minutes to do so.  Each clue would lead to their next hidden envelope.  After answering all of their questions correctly, their last clue would lead to the missing cake.  Each group found the cake just before time ran out! After that, we enjoyed a delicious cookie cake to celebrate being 100 days smarter!

Barett Bootsma, Breann Rolla, and Alexis Garcia Vejar work together to solve the problem on their envelope for 100th day.

Henry Wassink, Amariya Wynn, and Gage Voss are working hard to answer their math question.

Feb. 11 was a busy day in third grade. We spent the morning engaged in activities to celebrate the 100th day of school. Kids enjoyed cracking codes to an escape room, Science estimation activities, brainstorming a 100 word group challenge, and cake! To continue the day’s fun, we exchanged valentines in the afternoon, ate a valentine snack, and enjoyed a movie.

Fifth grade

Students in fifth grade have been working hard on a lot of different things, but fractions have been really tricky!  A fun way to end our unit and share our knowledge was to use Skittles to complete various tasks.  Then, of course, we got to eat our Skittles when we finished!
