Celebrate 70 Years With Special In-Person Visit

On Saturday, Feb. 13, Harvey and Tressa Ryswyk celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Tressa is a resident at Edgebrook Care Center and she and Harvey have not been able to be together, face-to-face in a year. But in honor of their wedding anniversary, Edgebrook Care Center granted them a special day together. The two had to quarantine in Tressa’s room all that day and Tressa had to remain quarantined after the visit for several more days. But they enjoyed a very nice day together. Harvey brought flowers to Tressa and they both had a great day enjoying one another’s company, in person.

Harvey and Tressa were married on Feb. 13, 1951, at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton. Rev. Wm. Vander Hoven, assisted by Rev. P. Van Tuinen of Leota, performed the ceremony.

A reception was held in the basement of the church following the ceremony. About 135 guests were present.

They took a wedding trip to Denver, Colo., after which they made their home on the farm of the groom’s parents, where Harvey farmed with his father.

The couple moved into Edgerton in 1999 and Harvey continued farming.

The Ryswyks were blessed with four children, Lyn, Lisa, Leanne, and Larry. They have 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
