Board looks at job application software
By Jill Fennema –
At last week’s Pipestone County board meeting, Cathy Feste, the HR coordinator, talked with the board about a software program called Neogov. This program would allow county job applicants to apply for jobs online rather than having to print out an application and submit it through the mail or in person. Feste would be able to review all the applications online as well.
Another portion of the software would allow the human resources department to create forms that employees could fill out online prior to starting employment.
There are 40 other counties in the state that are using this software and others that are considering it right now. It costs $20,206 for three years. but can be paid for with CARES funding, because it does streamline the process of HR working remotely. After the three years, the software would cost the county around $6,000 on average.
“Job applicants would see us more favorably if we have an online tool for applying,” Feste said. “Job applicants expect that now-a-days.”
Commissioner Luke Johnson commented that he thought the software was quite expensive for how many employees the county hires on a yearly basis. He asked whether there were other options.
